Dew point control plantsCB&I supplies dew point control plants that use straight refrigeration to remove heavy hydrocarbons from natural gas streams. We've designed and built dew point plants that range in size from 80 to 200 million standard cubic feet per day, and we can integrate our dew point plants with our gas treating plants.

We design refrigerated plants with dew point temperatures ranging from 20°F to -30°F (-6°C to -35°C). The optimum temperature depends on the capital and operating costs associated with hydrocarbon recovery. Lower dew point temperatures are preferable when butane and heavier hydrocarbons can be recovered cost-effectively.

Our plants utilize propane or Freon straight refrigeration systems to remove liquids from the gas stream. Straight refrigeration provides a cost-effective alternative to other types of liquids recovery plants and can be used in remote locations where a liquid pipeline is not available. Another advantage of straight refrigeration systems is that they typically use ethylene glycol injection instead of more expensive molecular sieve systems. They also limit the pressure drop on the gas stream, so no residue compression is needed.

Sour gas processing and acid gas removal. CB&I designs and builds fuel-efficient plants that use all types of solvents to effectively remove carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gas streams. We have supplied more than 200 conventional and specialty amine systems with capacities ranging from 30 to 4,000 gallons per minute.

Our gas processing facilities are designed to help refiners meet the most stringent environmental regulations and processing requirements. We can build plants that achieve extremely low concentrations, sometimes less than 50 parts per million, of carbon dioxide, often eliminating the need for further treatment in low temperature/cryogenic facilities such as nitrogen rejection and helium recovery plants. We can also seamlessly integrate our sweetening plants with our liquids recovery plants to provide a robust processing solution.

Our expertise covers the entire spectrum of gas sweetening technologies. We've designed acid gas removal plants that use a variety of solvents including MDEA, DEA, MEA and DGA, as well as proprietary solvent mixes. We can provide two-stage treatment plants that provide greater energy efficiency while delivering excellent CO2 control. We've installed plants that utilize plate-and-frame or shell-and-tube heat exchangers and motor- or turbine-drive power. We've also worked with virtually every heating medium.
