CB&I was retained to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) services for Enterprise Energy Ireland's onshore gas terminal at Bellanaboy Bridge, County Mayo, Ireland. Our scope of services for the project included preparing the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bid package and assisting with the planning application and environmental impact assessment.
The terminal receives natural gas from the Corrib field through the offshore pipeline with a peak rate of 350 million standard cubic feet per day. The pipeline fluids that are received include natural gas, aquifer water, condensed water, condensate, methanol and corrosion inhibitor.
The gas, aqueous and hydrocarbon phases undergo primary separation in the slug catcher, which then feeds the three main process routes of gas treatment and compression, condensate recovery and methanol regeneration.
The project requirements included compliance with stringent environmental requirements (including produced water and noise limits), significant peat removal and stabilization of the condensate for use as fuel.
